Elliott Frauenglass, 77, lived in Roxbury

Elliott Frauenglass, 77, of Roxbury, died June 29 at home.

Mr. Frauenglass was born Aug. 7, 1934, in Hartford, son of the late Jacob "Jack" and Lillian (Marcus) Frauenglass.

He was a longtime Newington resident before recently settling in Roxbury.

Mr. Frauenglass was a graduate of the University of Connecticut School of Pharmacy and went on to achieve his Ph.D. in chemistry from Cornell University.

His education led him to a successful career as a chemist with Eastman Kodak and Loctite. He then ran his own company, Accurate Brazing of New Britain.

Mr. Frauenglass lived his life with a conviction of peace and a strong sense of community.

He was a 32nd degree Scottish Rite Mason at the Sequin-Level No. 140 Masonic Lodge of Newington, where he was a past master and a member of the Sphinx Shriners and Rotary International of Newington.

Mr. Frauenglass is survived by his wife, Colby H. Kalisher; four children, Morris J. Frauenglass, of New Britain, Amy Frauenglass, of Cambridge, Mass., Julius R. Frauenglass, of Middletown, and Maria Frauenglass, of New Britain; two brothers, Harvey Frauenglass, and his wife, Gayle, of New Mexico, and Lloyd Frauenglass, and his wife, Lucy, of Glastonbury; a sister, Judith Frauenglass, of San Francisco; a granddaughter, Jasmine Santiago, of New Haven; and two great-grandchildren, J'Manual and Luis. Mr. Frauenglass was predeceased by his first wife, Judith (Ransom) Frauenglass, in 2007.

The Newington Memorial Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
