Edward H. Hill Jr., 75, of New Milford, died May 17 at home after a brief fight with cancer.
Mr. Hill was born in 1936, in Long Island, N.Y., and raised in White Plains, N.Y.
He encouraged his parents to buy 10 acres on Squires Hill and helped his father build the family home. Mr. Hill then moved with his family to New Milford after World War II.
At 17, he joined the United States Navy, returning to New Milford after his service.
Employed by Kimberly-Clark, Mr. Hill built his first home in his spare time.
After several years, he left Kimberly-Clark and became a building contractor noted for his many talents.
Mr. Hill is survived by his wife, Ann; a brother, James; two sons, Edward and Harold; and two grandchildren, Alexandra and Edward.
An informal memorial service will take place June 16 at 1 p.m. at the Merryall Chapel on Chapel Hill Road.
