Edna L. Coffey, 99, of Danbury, died Dec. 16, 2011, at Glen Hill Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late James S. Coffey.

Mrs. Coffey was born Jan. 5, 1912, in White Plains, N.Y., the daughter of the late Charles and Daisy (Light) French.

She attended high school in Croton Falls, N.Y., and later was a graduate of Crandall's Secretarial School in Danbury.

A Danbury resident for most of her life, she was employed as a cafeteria manager at Danbury High School for more than 25 years, retiring in 1976.

Mrs. Coffey was a longtime member of the Bethel Seventh Day Adventist Church and a member of the Mill Plain Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary.

She is survived by a son, Walter F. Coffey Sr., and his wife, Loretta, of Bethel; three grandchildren, Walter F. Coffey Jr., of New Milford, Carl Coffey, of Danbury, and Deborah Coffey, of Bethel; four great-grandchildren, Brittany, Sean and James Coffey and Anthony Walker; a niece, and a nephew.

The Green Funeral Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
