'Eat Smart' family program slated
Updated 12:03 am, Thursday, July 5, 2012
New Milford Hospital will kick off an eight-week "Eat Smart, Play Hard, Have Fun" series on July 11 designed to help families learn how to plan healthy meals, work toward a healthy weight and stay active as a family.
Classes will take place Wednesdays, July 11 through Aug. 22, from 6:30 to 8 p.m. at a variety of locations to promote family activities.
Each class is built around the core principles that good nutrition, regular exercise and behavior change drive healthy weight maintenance, not dieting.
The goal of the program is to help change behaviors so that the entire family adopts healthy dietary choices and engages in regular exercise.
Course highlights will include a cooking demonstration with a professional chef, outdoor adventures at the Pratt Nature Center and a graduation party at March Farms in Bethlehem.
The cost is $50 per family.
