A free e-waste recycling day will be held Aug. 28 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. in Sherman.
Items will be collected in Sherman School parking lot on Route 37 East.
Items from neighboring towns will be accepted.
E-waste is loosely defined as discarded, surplus, obsolete or broken electrical or electronic devices that are no longer useful as originally intended, but can be reused or recycled into a new product.
E-waste often contains items that are highly toxic to the environment and therefore must be disposed of properly.
The following items will be accepted: televisions, digital cameras, CPUs, tape players, monitors, PDAs, copiers, speakers, printers and ink cartridges, telephones, fax machines, two-way radios, scanners, answering machines, laptops, Camcorders, stereos, VCRs, CD players, keyboard/mouse/peripherals, electric typewriters, DVD players, game systems, cell phones pagers, remote controls, microwaves and modems.
Smoke detectors, hazardous materials and items with refrigerants will not be accepted.
Sherman residents are invited to take hazardous waste to the Household Hazardous Waste Day in September in New Milford.
