She was born Jan. 27, 1929, in Stamford, to the late Benjamin and Antonia (Tulinski) Kaminski, the ninth of 10 surviving children in her family.
She married her husband, John, in October 1951 and they moved to Bethel in July 1963.
Prior to her time at Candlewood Valley, she was a resident of Maplewood at Newtown.
She was proud of her Polish heritage.
Her favorite times were those when she was surrounded by family, especially gatherings during the holidays, and working in her yard planting flowers.
Prior to her retirement, she was a cafeteria worker in the Bethel school system for 29 years, a job she took so she could be home with her children during summer vacations from school.
She is survived by her three children, John F. Douglas Jr., of Bethel; Patricia (Douglas) Provino, of Gilford, N.H.; and Cathy (Douglas) DeBroske, of New Milford; a brother, Eugene Kaminski, of Bethel; a sister, Regina Michalsky, of Stamford; six grandchildren; four great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brothers, Frank, John, William, Henry, Zane, Leonard and Edward Kaminski.
Memorials may be made to Friends of Karen, 18 Titicus Road, P.O. Box 190, Purdys NY 10578, or by calling 914-277-4547.
The Bethel Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
