A three-year contract with New Milford's Emergency Dispatchers Union was accepted May 10 by the Town Council.

The contract is retroactive to July 1, 2009, and ends June 30, 2012.

The dispatchers receive no pay raise for the first fiscal year, then receive a 2.5 percent pay increase in both the second and third year of the contract.

An increase in employee contribution for health insurance is included in the contract. Employees pay no increase in the first year, then 1 percent increases in each of year two and three, bringing contributions to 12 percent and 13 percent, respectively.

"It's great that this contract has been agreed on," said Mayor Pat Murphy. "We have a good group of people in our dispatchers and I like it when you settle a contract."

The dispatchers' union representative, Frank Colida, declined comment.
