New Milford Visiting Nurse Association's community health nurse, Geri Rodda, will lead a free pediatric influenza vaccine administration course at four locations in the coming weeks and months.

The course will provide licensed clinicians with refresher training on influenza vaccine administration for children and infants.

Courses will be held March 31 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Danbury Library at 170 Main St., Danbury; April 26 from 10 a.m. to noon at the VNA of South Central Connecticut, 1 Long Wharf Drive, New Haven; May 11 from 10 a.m. to noon at the American Lung Association, 45 Ash St., East Hartford; and June 7 from 1 to 3 p.m. at the NMVNA, 68 Park Lane Road (Route 202), New Milford.

Ms. Rodda, who has developed a pediatric vaccination program for use by the NMVNA, was asked to lead the courses following a review of the state's response to the 2009-10 H1N1 pandemic, which revealed a significant shortage of medical professionals who are comfortable vaccinating children.

All materials and supplies for demonstration and practice will be provided (e.g., syringes, demonstration sprayers for LAIV).

Licensed clinicians, including MRC nurses who feel they could benefit from this training, are urged to sign up for the course.
