Country Showdown auditions under way

The Cookhouse in New Milford will host the last audition for a chance to represent the state in the Texaco Country Showdown Wednesday from 7 to 9 p.m.

The showdown, which seeks to find the next country artist, is open to vocal and/or instrumental performers, individuals or group of up to seven members who have not performed on a record listed in the national charts of Billboard, Radio and Records, or the Gavin Report within 18 months preceding the competition.

Celebrity judges, including Danbury Mayor Mark Boughton, will pick two finalists each week.

Kicks 105.5 will broadcast from the restaurant at 31 Danbury Road (Route 7) during the show.
