The Stairwell Gallery at Gunn Memorial Library in Washington will open an exhibit of works by Ken Cornet Aug. 3 with a reception from noon to 2 p.m. and a talk by the artist at 1.

"From Textile to Design" will run through Sept. 15.

Cornet was born and raised in New York, where he attended the Ethical Culture School and the High School of Music and Art, now LaGuardia High School.

He went on to study painting at the Art Students League, fashion design at the Fashion Institute of Technology and earned a degree from the New York School of Interior Design.

From painting in preschool to designing textiles and surfaces in adulthood, Cornet returned to painting and creating art; the exhibit covers his journey.

Cornet works from home, Red Studio Farm in Washington.

The Wykeham Road library is open Mondays and Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturdays from 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m.
