A 20-year-old New Milford man awaiting trial on charges he had sex with an underage girl earlier this year, told authorities the girl came on to him and lied about her age, according to a news report.
Keith Bruey, of Kent Road, was arraigned Tuesday, June 5, 2012 in Bantam Superior Court, the Register Citizen reported (http://bit.ly/LAnKBX). He faces charges of second-degree sexual assault and risk of injury to a child, the newspaper reported.
The girl, whose identity has not been released, was aged 15 at the time the alleged sexual encounter took place Jan. 5, according to the report.
During questioning, Mr. Bruey told investigators the girl had snuck out of her house and the pair had sex in the home he apparently shared with his mother, the report said.
In telling her side of the story, the newspaper reported, the girl told investigators Mr. Bruey had initiated the sexual contact.
"While we were watching `Crazy, Stupid, Love.', Keith said, `Let's have sex,'" she told police, according to the news report. "I asked if he was sure because I'm underage and you can go to jail. He said he didn't care."
No further details about the case were immediately available.
