NEW MILFORD — Personnel Director Alan Chapin has announced he will retire Aug. 1 from his position with the Town of New Milford.

Chapin, 64, has held the personnel director’s position since 2005. At this time he is on leave and the town has posted the position of interim-personnel director as being open, with the permanent position to follow in August.

Chapin served on the Washington Board of Selectmen for 23 years from 1978 to 2001, serving as the town’s first selectman for the last 10 years. His uncle was Clifford Chapin, New Milford’s first selectman from 1977 to 1987, and he is cousin to State Senator Clark Chapin, R-New Milford.
