Gunn Memorial Library in Washington will present a slide show and lecture, “The Fine Art of Printmaking in Connecticut: Weir, Arms, Balthazar & Kappel,” Feb. 2 at 6:30 p.m.

A snow date of Feb. 9 is planned at the Wykeham Road library.

Marc Chabot, a local fine arts scholar and private dealer in prints, will begin the program with a brief overview on the art of printmaking and some of its numerous techniques including etchings, dry points and lithographs.

He will highlight the works and cultural contributions of four renowned artist printmakers who lived and had working studios in Connecticut.

They are J. Alden Weir (1852-1919), John Taylor Arms (1887-1953), Edward J. Balthazar (1890-1956) and Phillip Kappel (1901-1981).

All four artists were well known locally, three internationally.

Chabot will have original pieces of the featured artists prints on display for viewing.
