Cecelia Humiston, 96, focused on family

Cecelia D. Humiston, 96, of Bunker Hill Road, Watertown, died Jan. 8 at Apple Rehabilitation Center in Watertown. She was the widow of Ralph B. Humiston.

Mrs. Humiston was born Jan. 29, 1916, in Brooklyn, N.Y., daughter of the late Frank and Mary (Biolsi) Pasquini.

She had lived in Watertown since 1953 and had been employed at Taft School.

Mrs. Humiston was a communicant of St. John the Evangelist Church.

She was an excellent softball player and enjoyed bowling. She was also a Mets fan.

Family was the most important thing in her life and, if one asked her, she would always say "My kids."

Mrs. Humiston is survived by a son, Robert J. McCarthy, and his wife, Karen, of Waterbury; three grandchildren, Mary Grant, and her husband, DeWayne, of Watertown; and Robert J. McCarthy Jr., and his wife, Adele; and Diane McCarthy, of Roxbury; 10 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother and three sisters.

Burial was in Evergreen Cemetery.

The Hickcox Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
