Caroline Verbouwens, 94, had lived in Warren

Caroline "Connie" Verbouwens, 94, of Ventura, Calif., died Jan. 28, 2010.

Mrs. Verbouwens was born May 11, 1915, in Warren, to David and Alice (Perkins) Strong.

She was employed at Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. in Springfield, Mass. She retired from the company's San Leandro, Calif., office.

Mrs. Verbouwens was active in church wherever she lived, involved in Warren activities and enjoyed playing pinochle.

Mrs. Verbouwens is survived by her children, Linda, and her husband, Brad Bradle, of Flagstaff, Ariz., Caroline, and her husband, Skip Schow, of San Pedro, Calif., and Frank, and his wife, Pat, Antonowitz, of Ventura; five grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. In addition to her parent, she was predeceased by her stepmother, Edith (Mills) Strong; 10 siblings; and three husbands, Paul F. Antonowitz, Max Uhlig, and Lewis Verbouwens.

A funeral service will be held May 8, at 11 a.m. at the Warren Congregational Church on Sackett Hill Road in Warren. Burial will be in the new Warren Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Warren Congregational Church Book of Remembrance or the church's Youth Group, 4 Sackett Hill Road, Warren, CT 06754; or to the Warren Volunteer Fire Department/Ambulance Corps, 11 Sackett Hill Road, Warren, CT 06754.
