Bridgewater resident Brigid Buchheit Carney has released her first book in a children’s series, “The Jake House.”

The series follows Irish immigrant Sean O’Sullivan’s flashbacks as he tells his granddaughter Jackie about life in New Haven’s fire department at the turn of the century.

The first book, “The Jake House: The Tent Fire,” is available to purchase at www.thejakehouse.com.

Carney was inspired to write the book after her husband, Timothy Carney, became a career firefighter at 35.
