A traditional attraction for many Greater New Milford-area residents on Thanksgiving Day is viewing the Macy's parade in New York City.

Carly Gasiewski, a senior at New Milford High School, did them one better Nov. 24 when she performed along the parade route with fellow members of Center Stage Dance Studio in Stamford.

A student at Center Stage for 15 years, Carly was joined by six teammates (see photo) as part of the "Spirit of America Dance Team," which included 700 dancers from across the country.

The ensemble danced to a "Circus" theme.

Carly also dances on the NMHS dance team and now serves as assistant captain; she also is a dancing student at FineLine Theatre Arts in New Milford.

The parade was simply a highlight of a week-long adventure for Carly in the Big Apple.

In addition to hours of rehearsals in the ballroom at the Hilton New York City and at Herald Square, the girls had "the time of their lives experiencing all New York has to offer," said Carly's mother, Michelle Gasiewski.

On their agenda was a Circle Line cruise to the Statue of Liberty; ascent to the top of the Empire State Building; the Broadway show, "Sister Act;" the Radio City Christmas Spectacular show; a tour on the set of the Today Show, meeting Kathi Lee Gifford along the way; and a concert at Rockefeller Center starring Justin Beiber, Usher, Busta Rhymes and Tony Bennett.
