Car found in Housatonic reportedly had been stolen

New Milford police said Sunday a car spotted in the Housatonic River off River Road Saturday evening had been stolen in New York.

Divers from several area police departments, firefighters and ambulance personnel responded to the report Saturday about 10 p.m.

A search of the vehicle and a sweep of the Housatonic down river of the site turned up no trace of the driver or any occupants, police said.
