The Kent Memorial Library is presenting "Cape Cod," an exhibit of works by John Belfontaine, of Gaylordsville, through Feb. 28.

There will be a reception with the artist Jan. 11 from 3 to 5 p.m.

Belfontaine is a self-taught artist who has been a professional, award-winning artist for 40 years.

Belfontaine works

in several mediums,

including oil, acrylics, watercolor, charcoal,

clay and wood.

The artist is a member of the New Hampshire Art Association, Portrait Society of America, Connecticut Society of Portrait Artists, Gallery 25, a new co-op gallery in New Milford, the Kent Drawing Group and the Circus Fans of America.

He also founded and directed the New Hampshire Artists' Guild from 1988-1990.

Following his dream to travel, live and work alongside the Big Apple Circus in 1999, he moved from New Hampshire to western Connecticut to be closer to the circus when performing in New York City and when training in central New York.

Some of the paintings in the exhibit are included in a 2014 Cape Cod calendar, which is available for purchase at the Main Street library.
