CL & P asks customers to be wary of scams

Connecticut Light & Power is asking customers to be wary of telephone calls from people claiming to be from CL & P, offering "a $40 rebate," and then requesting a customer's CL & P account number and Social Security number.

If you receive such a call:

Never provide personal information such as an account number or Social Security number to any unsolicited caller, even if the caller seems legitimate;

Hang up the phone and report the incident to your local police.

If you have any doubt regarding the authenticity of a phone call or visit from a person claiming to be a representative of CL & P, call CL & P customer service at 800-286-2000 and ask the representative to verify the call or visit.
