The New Milford Historical Society is presenting a new exhibit, “Business and Commerce in New Milford in the 20th Century.”

The exhibit is the sixth mini-exhibit in the lower gallery.

“Business & Commerce in New Milford” is sponsored by Ameico, Dr. Nestor Mejias and Dr. Benjamin Waldman.

Kimberly-Clark is a contributor to the exhibit.

The exhibit includes a “Then” section where 16 past and now defunct businesses are featured.

The second part of the exhibit is called “Then and Now” and emphasizes those businesses that have been in operation continuously for many years or are reusing a building or space created for a now defunct business, such as the Village Center for the Arts in the Village Hardware building.

Finally, the third part of the exhibit features more recent or modern businesses that have made New Milford their home.

This exhibit was researched and implemented by Nettie McKenna and Hilary McKenna under the supervision of Curator Lisa Roush.
