Book sale to start at Kent library

Kent Memorial Library will kick off its annual book sale on Memorial Day Weekend.
The sale will be open May 27 and 29 from noon to 5 p.m. and May 28 and 30 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
In addition, the annual Junior Room bake sale will be held May 28 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The book sale will continue on weekends all summer and through mid-October.
“It is the library’s biggest fundraiser, and all proceeds benefit the Kent Memorial Library’s operating budget,” said Donna Miller, library director.
The sale will be open Fridays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in June and Fridays from noon to 5 p.m., Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. — all weather permitting — in July and August.

Eric Cieplik has been hired as the book sale manager.
He brings with him a 28-year career in sales/sales management with Dow Jones & Co. Inc., the Wall Street Journal and Barron’s Magazine.
He and his family have lived in Kent since 2005 and been regular patrons of the library ever since.
Elise, his wife, and Eric have volunteered at the book sale as cashiers for a number of years.
The sale will feature a wide range of books, including many current best-sellers, mysteries, biographies, art history, as well as jigsaw puzzles.
Donations of books in good condition are being accepted.
Magazines, encyclopedias, Reader Digest books and old textbooks will not be accepted.
