A benefit to support Lance Cpl. John G. Curtin of the United States Marines, nephew of Pat Dzamko of New Milford, will be held Monday, April 25 at 5 p.m. in New Milford.

The event, featuring a buffet and live music, will take place at Milano's on Railroad Street.

Lance Cpl. Curtin was critically injured Feb. 15 by an improvised explosive device, sustaining the loss of both legs above the knees and injuries to both arms.

He had been on active duty since October 2009, having been deployed to Afghanistan Jan. 24 of this year.

He was awarded the Purple Heart Feb. 23 by President Barack Obama while receiving intensive medical care at the National Naval Medical Center in Bethesda, Md.

Tickets to the benefit are $25.
