VNA Northwest, which serves the Greater New Milford area, is one of 38 local nonprofits chosen to receive a year-end critical needs/holiday grant from the Community Foundation of Northwest Connecticut.

The foundation grant in the amount of $750 is made possible by the Marion Williams and Alice Edwards Fund, and the Jim and Shirley Draper Foundation Fund.

VNA Northwest will use the grant for its annual holiday giving program, which serves individuals and families in the foundation's 20-town catchment area.

Parishioners from two local churches, as well as individual volunteers and VNA Northwest staff members, work together to provide and distribute gifts and gift certificates for groceries to patients in need.

Last year, the agency's holiday giving program served approximately over 50 individuals with limited financial means.
