Hearing Aid Specialists on Church Street in New Milford will hold an open house Dec. 8 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Free hearing exams will be offered.

The Thrift Mart of New Milford will be open Dec. 9 and 16 from noon to 4 p.m.

The store is located on Route 7 South, housed in the building behind the professional building between Ring's End Lumber and Monroe Muffler.

Goatboy Soaps in New Milford will hold a holiday open house Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in December.

Stylist Isabella Vazquez of Joe's Salon on Bank Street in New Milford has been named Redken's curl specialist.

Ms. Vazquez helped develop Curvaceous, a complete collection of haircare and styling products specially formulated to bring out the best in every curl.

The U.S. Small Business Administration recently recognized Union Savings Bank, which has branches throughout Greater New Milford, as a 2012 Eagle Award recipient.

The bank was honored Oct. 16 along with 10 other award recipients during SBA's annual Lenders & Partners meeting in Trumbull.

Union Savings Bank -- the only Danbury-area bank honored -- was a recipient in the Outstanding Contributions to SBA Lending's category in recognition of its increased loan volume during the past several years. This award is the second the bank has received in this category. It received its first in 2010.
