Twenty-three women at Curves in New Milford recently raised $250 in 52 minutes by participating in a calorie-burning, fundraising workout led by Patti Garland and Linda Malarkey. Donations will benefit Social Services' Good Samaritan Fund.

VNA Northwest in Bantam, which serves the Greater New Milford area, has received $6,000 from Union Savings Bank Foundation, Inc. for advanced training for two staff nurses.

The grant will pay tuition costs for the nurses to attend an upcoming, wound care training and certification session.

Five VNA Northwest staff nurses have completed advanced wound care training and received certification credentials from the National Alliance of Wound Care.

Although all clinical staff members are trained in wound care, VNA Northwest encourages as many as possible to attend the advanced training and become certified in this discipline.

New Milford photographer Rich Pomerantz has announced he was the only photographer in the state to receive the Brides Connecticut Editor's Choice Award.

Mr. Pomerantz has photographed wedding for close to 15 years.

The Institute for Healthcare Improvement recently showcased the quality improvement efforts of Danbury Hospital and New Milford Hospital at its 23rd annual National Forum, held Dec. 4-7 in Florida.

While Danbury Hospital's quality effort identified ways to reduce the risk of complications in surgical patients, New Milford Hospital's effort enhanced the quality of food and patient satisfaction with the dining experience.
