Asks help for 'back to school' clothes campaign

[Following is an open letter to readers about United Way's 2013 "Back to school clothes for kids" campaign.]
We need your help.
One hundred local children will not have back-to-school supplies without you.
The need has increased, and we want to provide for our neighbors. This year, we need to purchase clothing and school supplies for more than 300 children in the Greater New Milford area.
The 22nd annual "Back to School" clothing drive is again being sponsored by the United Way of Western Connecticut to provide new school clothes for children living in New Milford, Kent, Washington, Roxbury, Sherman, Bridgewater and Warren.
Children's sizes and color preferences will be provided so you may purchase and donate what is appropriate for each child.
A specific list of items for backpacks and personal care will also be provided.
We would like each child to receive two "outfits" of clothing, three sets of underwear, three pair of socks, a pair of sneakers, a winter jacket, a backpack and school supplies, and personal care grooming items.
You may sponsor a child, individually or as a group. The approximate cost per child is $250.
Please help a youngster "dress for success" this coming school year.
Monetary donations also accepted. You can also shop and be reimbursed.
For further information or to sponsor a child, please contact Kathy Thomas at United Way of Western Connecticut, 21 Main Street, P.O. Box 29, New Milford, CT 06776 or call 860-354-8800.
