Arleen Joan (Lambert) Maccariello, 71, of New Milford, died Aug. 26, following a 10-year courageous battle with cancer. She was the wife of Anthony J. Maccariello.

She was born Aug. 4, 1941, in Yonkers, N.Y., daughter of the late James J. and Eva A. Lambert.

She graduated from Edgemont High School in Scarsdale, N.Y.

During the course of her working career, she worked for Duracell, Leed Design, Boehringer Ingelheim, the Institute for Children's Literature, DATAHR Inc., and the Granville, N.Y., school system.

She loved animals big and small and was known to take in strays all her life.

In addition to her husband of 51 years, Mrs. Maccariello is survived by two daughters, Donna DiFabbio and her husband, John, of New Milford, and Laura Caro and her husband, Stephen, of Irvine, Calif.; five grandchildren, Rebecca DiFabbio, Katelyn Caro, Jessica DiFabbio, Courtney Caro and Daniel Caro; a sister and brother-in-law, Eva and Robert Cook; aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Calling hours will be held tonight from 5 to 8 p.m. at Lillis Funeral Home, 58 Bridge St., New Milford.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated tomorrow at 9 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Church, 26 Chestnutland Road, New Milford.

Burial will be private at Sleepy Hollow Cemetery, Tarrytown, N.Y.
