Kent Center School will hold its 2014 Arbor Day celebration April 25 with a tree planting at 2 p.m.

The tree is provided by the Kent Conservation Commission and the Kent Garden Club.

Following the planting, the celebration will move to the gym for a program of poetry, art and music honoring the day and Dr. Birdsey Grant Northrop, who was born in Kent and began the promotion of Arbor Day in American schools.

Trees donated by the Kent Greenhouse will be presented to two poets and eight artists.

Plants donated by the Kent Garden Club will be presented to two fifth-grade speakers.

The event is organized by the Kent Center School Arbor Day Committee, with the support of the Kent Conservation Committee, the Kent Garden Club, and the Kent Greenhouse.
