To the Editor:

On behalf of the staff of Village Center for the Arts and its board of directors, we would like to thank the 100-plus people who attended the fifth annual IPA Tasting and Dinner Jan. 28.

We hope that many of you left feeling good about supporting the mission of VCA, which is to provide a nurturing environment for artistic creativity through educational fine art programs and events for all ages.

We also hope you left feeling satisfied after enjoying 65 different types of beer (and wine), arranged by Nejaime’s Wine & Spirits/New Milford Spirit Shoppe, and a delicious dinner prepared by the Community Culinary School of Northwestern Connecticut.

The event tapped into the generosity of the community, raising more than $10,000 for the programs and services of VCA.

We would also like to recognize and thank VCA co-founder Jayson Roberts, who created and organized the event, John Nejaime of NeJaime’s, and Executive Director Dawn Hammacott, Chef Justin Elander and assistants DJ Mimms and Breannan Dempsey of the culinary school.

Major contributors included gold sponsors YardApes, Wetmore’s Chrysler Jeep Dodge and The Cookhouse, and silver sponsors The Book Nook, Gronbach Law Offices and Union Savings Bank.

Thanks also to our media sponsor, 98Q/WLAD, and our host, St. John’s Episcopal Church in New Milford.

Many thanks to our volunteer coordinators, Jenna Mancini and Lauren Jelenffy; servers Abby Allen, Willow Glynn, Katie Grinnell, Nick Pellicone, and Satira Taylor; Kari DelVecchio for graphic design; Shari Barron of J&J Printing for signage and the event book; and the Dirt Road Pickers for their live music.

VCA’s next major event will be its annual Paint the People extravaganza on the Pettibone School field June 10.
