Despite the onslaught of winter storms, plans are still on schedule for a spring start in construction of an Aldi Market at 125 Danbury Road in New Milford.
"Our goal is spring," said Lee Ann Wheeler, an Aldi spokesperson from South Windsor. "So far, so good" for making progress.
Philip Farmer of Washington is developing the 4.8 acres parcel north of Lore's Plaza.
The Aldi Market will be the first of three planned businesses to go on the site.
A restaurant and a possible condominium-style office complex are in future plans.
Aldi Market, a discount supermarket chain based in Illinois, purchased 1.3 acres of the Danbury Road site in 2009.
"This is great news," Mr. Farmer said Tuesday. "They're going to start building at the end of March.
The scheduled opening would be after Labor Day.
