The Animal Welfare Society, Inc. in New Milford will hold its 11th annual Dog Days of Summer Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Festivities at the 8 Dodd Road facility are open to all dog owners with dogs on non-retractable leashes.

The event will feature demonstrations, food, numerous booths and local vendors, and items will be available for purchase for both pets and people.

Demonstrations will include a police dog demo, agility try-outs, a fly-ball demo, freestyle dancing, and a search and rescue demo.

There will also be a parade of rescue dogs, a cheesy-puff race, canine good citizen testing, a blessing of the animals, and games for owners and their dogs.

Admission is $3 per person or $5 for a family.

Proceeds will benefit AWS, an independent, 501c3 non-profit, non-destroy organization founded in 1965. The organization provides food, shelter and veterinary care to homeless and abandoned dogs and cats from Brookfield, Bridgewater, New Milford, Roxbury and Washington, while working to place them in responsible and caring homes.
