The Village Green was abuzz last Friday and Saturday for the Greater New Milford Chamber of Commerce’s Village Fair Days. The two-day event, which marked its 50th anniversary, included an opening ceremony featuring the crowning of a king and queen, live entertainment, bingo, bouncy houses, a food court, a children’s fun run, the Amber Alert Child Identification Program, a pie-eating contest and almost 200 vendor and community booths.

The 50th annual 8-Mile Road Race and 5K were popular features. A fireworks display, which had been scheduled for the town’s Fourth of July celebration, but were postponed due to inclement weather, capped off Friday night’s festivities.

New attractions this year included a dunk tank, farmers market, car show and touch-a-truck event on Bank Street. To mark the fair’s 50th year, a “Five Gets You Fifty Plus” contest was offered and a Wishing New Milford Well was available for individuals to donate to local nonprofits.
