The following programs are offered by the town of New Milford as a response to Hurricane Sandy:

A charging station will be available Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at The Maxx, located at 94 Railroad Street.

Residents may charge electric devices such as cell phones and laptops but must stay with them.

Hot showers will be available Friday, Nov. 2, 2012 from 6 to 9 p.m. at New Milford High School, 388 Danbury Road (Route 7 South).

Residents should bring shower supplies, including towels and shower shoes, as well as a hair dryer.

Participants are asked to use the entrance at the south end of the high school nearest the gym.

An emergency potable water filling station is available to replenish household water supplies for those waiting for power to be restored.

Please bring containers to the former ambulance barn at 20 Young's Field Road, at the corner of Housatonic Avenue and Young's Field Road, next to the recycling center.

Those still without power are asked to call CL & P at 1-800-286-2000 or visit www.cl-p.com to report the outage.

Do not assume CL & P knows about the outage.

For road closure concerns, call New Milford Public Works at 860-355-6040 or the New Milford police dispatch at 860-355-3133.

Do not use outdoor grills or fire pits inside the home for heat or cooking.

Doing so creates an extremely hazardous situation, including a build-up of carbon monoxide and potential for fire.

Continue to check on neighbors and friends, and post this information in public places if possible.
