The Kent Board of Selectmen has added a resident trooper position to the proposed 2013-14 budget.
The full $113,000 cost was added to the town expense side of the proposed budget.
Of that, the revenue side had $60,000 added, representing a donation of $20,000 each from the three preparatory schools in the town toward the resident trooper expense.
A town meeting in February to discuss returning the resident trooper position was attended by 78 people. A nonbinding vote taken at the meeting resulted in 58 yes votes to reinstate the position, vacated in 2009.
