Voters in Sherman approved a $14.4 million school and town budget for the 2015-16 fiscal year during Saturday's referendum.

The town's $5.1 million portion of the budget passed, 305-269. The school's $9.3 million portion was approved, 346-228. The combined budget for 2015-16 will be $328,000 more than the current budget, a 2.3 percent increase. Nearly 25 percent of the budget is related to debt service.

The tax will be about $2,000 on every $100,000 of assessed value, which is an increase of $20.

Voters also approved appropriating up to $20,000 for general repairs to Happy Acres Farm, 414-159.

A proposed ordinance about septic tank management was rejected, 308-250.
