Senior housing forum on tap in Sherman

A senior housing forum will take place June 9 from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Sherman.

The session at Sherman School cafeteria at 2 Route 37 East is co-sponsored by the Sherman Housing Commission and the Sherman Commission on Aging.

Topics to be discussed include why the town has a housing commission and what the commission's goals are; the need for senior affordable housing and what senior housing will look like.

Guest speakers will include Bill and Catherine Bachrach of Kent, who will talk about how to create affordable senior housing; Lesley Higgins-Biddle, director of Local Initiatives Support Corp., who will discuss the available support for senior housing; and Dave Berto, president of Housing Enterprises Inc., who will talk about the process for creating senior affordable housing.
