New Milford Public Library on Main Street will offer a variety of programs in the coming weeks.
Offerings will include a screening of "Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows" June 27 at 6 p.m., a screening of "Tarzan Escapes" from 1936 June 30 at 6:30 p.m. and a screening of the foreign film "And Now Ladies and Gentleman" July 9 at 1 p.m.
A special program, "The Road to Machu Picchu: Cuzco, the Sacred Valley of the Incas and Machu Picchu in Photographs," will be presented by Middletown photographer Jason Neely July 18 at 6:30 p.m
His work have been published in National Geographic magazine and used by the rock band Weezer for their 2009 release of "Raditude."
The library's independent spirit films series will feature Spielberg films: "The Color Purple" July 25, "E.T." Aug. 15, "Indiana Jones and the Raiders of the Lost Ark" Aug. 22 and "Jaws" Aug. 29, all at 6 p.m.
Other ongoing activities include a creative writing club for students in grades five through 12 the first Wednesday of every month from 4 to 5 p.m.; and a Teen Book Club for kids 11 to 18 the fourth Wednesday of each month from 4 to 5 p.m.
The library has also announced patrons may now download NMPL ebooks onto Kindle Fires.
In other library news, residents are reminded that the library offers passes for free or reduced admission to local attractions and parks.
There are also passes to the Imagine Nation Children's Museum in New Britain, Mystic Seaport and the American Museum of Natural History in New York City.
The passes are loaned for three days. A library card is required at check-out.
