Michael Pascento will soon assume the reins of principal at Sherman School.

The change will be part of a shuffling of administrators for the 2014-15 school year.

Current principal Mary Boylan will begin a role as director of curriculum and instruction for the next school year.

Boylan's role will be part-time and focus on program improvements and staff professional practices.

Pascento will supervise operations of school programs and services for students.

Both will share duties connected to staff evaluation. They will begin their new positions July 1.

"At a time when Sherman School has been experiencing a gradual decline in student population, this redesign will allow us to maintain the administrative leadership needed to oversee the demands of providing a high quality education for Sherman students," said Superintendent of School Don Fiftal.

The Board of Education approved the change at its December meeting.
