The sun shone brightly on Saturday's first-ever "Paint the People" arts festival in New Milford.

Mother Nature smiled broadly as the Village Center for the Arts hosted a lively nine-hour event attended by many hundreds of Greater New Milford-area residents at Young's Field.

The festival featured interactive art activities, music, dance, food, paint and more paint.

By day's end, many a child and even some young-at-heart adults could be seen departing the premises covered from head to foot with paint.

Festival offerings included the viewing of artists creating their art form; an art exhibit of children's artwork; music by area bands; and a night-time light show.

The art show component of the festival was sponsored by the New Milford Commission on the Arts.
