Motorcyclist injured in Washington accident

A motorcycle rider was transported by Life Star helicopter to St. Mary's Hospital in Waterbury after an accident Saturday afternoon at the intersection of routes 199 and 47 in Washington.

Police said at least one other vehicle was involved in the accident Saturday about 1:45 p.m. and the male driver of the motorcycle was unconscious when he was transported to the hospital. The extent of his injuries was not immediately known.

A witness at the scene said the driver of the other vehicle was walking around and appeared to be uninjured. The motorcycle was heavily damaged while the car received minor damage to the front end, a witness said.

Washington Fire and Ambulance as well as New Milford's Medic 4 responded to the scene. The Life Star helicopter landed on an athletic field at Gunnery School before transporting the motorcyclist,
