Michael Peter Oberndorfer, 42, of Bridgewater, husband of Beth Oberndorfer and father of Anastazia, died Sept. 10, 2009, at Danbury Hospital after a long battle with cancer.

Mr. Oberndorfer was born Oct. 4, 1966, in Carmel, N.Y., son of James and Diana (Day) Oberndorfer of Brookfield.

He worked as an architectural sheet metal salesman for Danbury Sheet Metal.

Mr. Oberndorfer enjoyed coaching his daughter's softball team, the Shepaug Stars.

His hobbies included collecting and restoring antique tractors, spending time outdoors, gardening and making pickles.

He was known as a practical joker and loved to make people laugh.

Mr. Oberndorfer served as an honorary chairman for the 2008 Shepaug Valley Relay For Life.

He was happiest spending time with his daughter and sharing in her many interests. He also enjoyed traveling extensively with his wife and daughter.

Mr. Oberndorfer held the title of Houndmaster to Heinz, his Dachshund.

In addition to his wife of 18 years, his parents, and daughter of Bridgewater, Mr. Oberndorfer is survived by three brothers, Kyle Oberndorfer, and his wife, Cheryl, of Brookfield, Scott Oberndorfer, and his wife, Marybeth, of Glastonbury, and Ryan Oberndorfer, and his wife, Jennifer, of Plymouth; a sister, Jennifer LaMont, and her husband, Chris, of Brookfield; his father- and mother-in-law, Bill and Linda Bennett, of Brookfield; two brothers-in-law, Donald and Jason; his aunt and uncle, Dorna and Jon Persson and their family, of Stratford; and 11 nieces and nephews.

The Cornell Memorial Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
