Several proposed personnel cuts have been made by Mayor Pat Murphy in an attempt to rein in spending in the New Milford town budget for 2013-14.

Among them would be the cut of a data clerk position at $35,090 from the tax collector's office.

Also slated for elimination are a New Milford Public Library reference librarian at $56,200 and a clerk at $40,102 from the town clerk's office.

In the Youth Agency budget, the mayor proposed cutting hours from 40 to 25 hours weekly from the supervisor's position at The Maxx at a savings of $13,540.

Left in the mayor's budget plan were three positions in the mayor's office: executive secretary at $45,093; secretary II at $40,103; and administrative aide at $53,202.
