To the Spectrum:
Congratulations on your 15 years of local news coverage.
Many times the happenings of small towns are passed up by regional papers and you should be proud of your continued professional coverage of our local events.
The personal knowledge of local history gained by your long-serving, dedicated staff that goes into The Spectrum's editorials each week give your paper a hometown feel.
As a lifetime resident of Washington, I have enjoyed reading stories with local color and personal knowledge of their background.
Often times while reporting a current event, a name or past event will be mentioned and can create a long reminiscing conversation.
So it is not only what ends up in print, but also your staff's personal connections with the communities you serve that is the true measure of a good local paper and one the Spectrum can be proud of.
