Long under renovations, the New Milford campus of Walnut Hill Community Church is soon to open.

The gymnasium on the 19 Dorwin Hill Road property will be the site Dec. 24 of two Christmas Eve services -- 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. family services will be officiated by Pastor Brian Prue.

Parking will be available in the upper level parking lot.

"We're excited," Pastor Prue said. "We've been working on renovations on the gym and it is slated to be opened for youth programs by the end of December or the first of January."

Sunday services at 9 a.m and 10:45 p.m. will continue to be held at Pettibone School on Pickett District Road.

Services began at the school in September when it became evident extensive renovations were needed for the sanctuary and gymnasium on Dorwin Hill.

Walnut Hill purchased the former Christian Fellowship Church property in March to house its expanded ministry.

Church officials are now working with architects developing plans for renovations to the main church building.

Church leaders said the decision to open the campus in New Milford stemmed from a growing number of families from the area who were traveling to the main church facility in Bethel to attend church.
