NEWTOWN -- Former U.S. Rep. Gabrielle Giffords arrived at town hall mid-afternoon Friday to give support to the town after the Sandy Hook shootings three weeks ago today.
"We're so glad you came," Robinson said. "Thank you."
"How horrible," Giffords replied, as she hugged Robinson.
The former Congresswoman, who was critically injured when she was shot on Jan. 8, 2011 while at a public meeting outside a supermarket, met with First Selectman Pat Llodra, U.S. Sen. Richard Blumenthal and Lt. Gov. Nancy Wyman.
The closed-door meeting was in the Legislative Council chambers, adjoining Llodra's office.
Giffords left the meeting without making a public statement.
She was expected to meet privately with families of the shooting victims later this afternoon.
