Ebner Camps will soon open Eagle Rock Day Camp for children aged 4 to 13 in Washington.
Eagle Rock, which occupies 50 acres near Mt. Tom pond, will open its gates in June 2013 to children from Litchfield, Fairfield and New Haven counties.
Ebner Camps has owned and operated two residential summer camps -- Camp Awosting for Boys since 1948 and Camp Chinqueka for Girls since 1955 -- and one day camp, Boulder Ridge Day Camp, since 2004.
The Ebners bought the property they are developing into Eagle Rock Day Camp several years ago with hopes to offer more families in the New Milford and Southbury areas a similar day camping experience to the successful Boulder Ridge in Barkhamsted.
"We are very excited to open Eagle Rock Day Camp, our fourth camp, in 2013," said Kevin Ebner, president of Ebner Camps.
"Summer camp has been part of our family for over 70 years, and we believe every child can benefit by going to camp.
"It is amazing to watch children grow, gain independence, make new friends, and try things they never thought they could do. Summer camp teaches you life skills that stay with you forever. We look forward to sharing our camp expertise with thousands of new families in the area."
Eagle Rock will offer campers a variety of activities, including swimming, boating, soccer, volleyball, baseball, gaga, archery, ropes, nature, mountain bikes, trailblazing, photography, arts and crafts, ceramics, cooking and science lab.
Campers will be grouped by age and grade in school.
Instruction will be provided, keeping the development of each age group in mind with both physical and non-athletic activities.
In the afternoon, campers will have the option of choosing electives in which they are most interested.
