State Rep. Clark Chapin (R-67th) has announced his campaign for the 30th State Senatorial District seat has been endorsed by the Torrington Republican Town Committee.

The committee unanimously made its endorsement during its February meeting.

Wendy Traub, committee chairwoman, said she is happy to have endorsed an individual who has made such a positive impact in Hartford over the past 10-plus years.

"He embodies the type of candidate that will serve Torrington well," Ms. Traub said. "In his tenure as state representative, Mr. Chapin has consistently shown, by his actions, he is seriously committed to, not only New Milford, but also northwestern Connecticut.

"His thorough knowledge of the legislative process will only prove to enhance his capabilities as a strong senator," she added.

"I'm very pleased to have the town committee's support," Rep. Chapin said. "Torrington is one of the largest municipalities in the district and the committee's backing will be a real help in getting the word out about the campaign in the coming weeks."
