Catherine A. Borodenko, 85, of Danbury, died Aug. 30, 2009, at Harborside Glen Hill.

Ms. Borodenko was born April 30, 1924, in Danbury, the daughter of the late Frank and Anna (Shuflata) Borodenko.

A lifelong resident of Danbury, she was a graduate of Danbury High School, Class of 1941. She later attended Post College, where she received her legal assistant certification in 1979.

In 1983, Ms. Borodenko received her PLS certification from the National Association of Legal Secretaries.

Ms. Borodenko was employed as a legal assistant with the law firm of Pinney, Payne, Van Lenten, Burrell, Wolff and Dillman, P.C. for more than 45 years, retiring in 1990.

She was a member of the Greater Danbury and Connecticut Legal Secretaries associations, serving in both organizations as president, and the National Association of Legal Secretaries, serving as a national director.

Ms. Borodenko was secretary for the Danbury Town Board of Finance from 1955 to 1965 and the Danbury Zoning Board of Appeals from 1965 to 1975.

She volunteered for the Red Cross and its Retired Senior Volunteer Program, and was a parishioner of St. Joseph Church in Danbury.

Ms. Borodensko is survived by a sister, Mary B. Lambert, of Danbury; a sister-in-law, Judith Borodenko, of South Bend, Ind.; a niece, Anna Deleganes, of Amboy, Wash;, and two nephews, Frank R. Borodenko, of South Bend, and Terrance Tyrell, of Gaylordsville; and her longtime friend, Louise Miller, of New Fairfield.

The Green Funeral Home of Danbury was in charge of arrangements.
