Absentee ballots are available at the Bridgewater town clerk's office for the Aug. 12 Republican Party primary.

Only electors who are registered Republicans may vote in the primary.

Obtaining an absentee ballot is a two-step process. First, an application must be completed and verified by the town clerk's office. Then, an absentee ballot would be issued.

Absentee ballots must be mailed to the applicant or may be given only to the applicant in person. Ballots must be returned to the town clerk's office before the close of polls Aug. 12 at 8 p.m.

Applications for absentee ballots can also be downloaded from the town's website at bridgewatertownhall.org. The application may be faxed to 860-350-2815, but the original signed application must be sent to the town clerk in order for the ballot to be counted.

Ballots will be sent out when the faxed application is received, but again cannot be counted if the original signed application is not received.

The town clerk's office, at town hall, 44 Main St. South, is open Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and Tuesdays from 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
